New Season Starting Soon!

Posted by Hawks Wrestling Club at Oct 1, 2018 8:20AM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Our next season of Lincoln Jr. Hawks Wrestling is upon us!!!!

The New season starts November 1st. We will have registration starting at 5:30 and the first practice starts at 6. All ages will start practice at 6:00 and we will also have a quick parents meeting. Younger kids will be done at 7:15. Older kids will go until 8:00

We have a new practice concept this year. Everyone will start in the beginner green group. After the first 5 practices the coaches will split the group into green and silver groups. Green and Silver group will no longer be just by age and experience. The coaches want to use the Silver group as a way to reward kids who are working hard in practice and doing the right things on and off the mat.

First 5 practices will be the entire team. Then we will break into green and silver group. At that time Green group will practice 6:00-7:00 and silver will practice from 7:00- 8:00

The website has been updated with the practice schedule. You can always refer to the website calendar for practices and tournaments. The site we use for the website has an app you can download for iphone or android. Please download the app so you can stay up to speed on everything going on in the club.

One thing I really want to stress this year is the fact that we need every family to help at both of our tournaments. I have listed the tournament dates below. Please mark your calendars and plan to help. Even if your child is not participating in the tournament we ask that you help for at least 1 (three – four hour) slot. This is very important to get volunteers from each family. This is how we keep our registration fees so low each year. These tournaments help pay for the rental of the wrestling room for each practice and fees for your child into weekly tournaments.

Our Tournament February 24th 2019

Clash Tournament- December 9th 2018

New members to the club. You should wear gym shorts and a t-shirt to practice. If you have wrestling shoes you can wear those. We have some wrestling shoes that are available to rent free of charge. You can also wear a pair of clean tennis shoes.

Registration highlights:
· Session I – $60/per wrestler for November 1st through December 20th
· Session II – $100/per wrester for January 3rd through March 28th
o $85 for additional family wrestler
o $15 discount for participating in Session I

Please share this information with anyone that may be interested in joining the Lincoln Jr. Hawks.

Dear Lincoln Jr. Hawks Parents and Wrestlers,

I am excited to have the opportunity to take over the Lincoln Jr. Hawk wrestling program as head coach this year, and there are a lot of exciting things happening for our club for the 2018-2019 wrestling season. First off, a little more about myself. My name is Brady Harrison, but the kids call me Coach Brady, this will be my 13th year with the Jr. Hawk program as a coach. I wrestled at Lincoln Southwest High School under Coach Aaron Finley and Coach Dave Charroin, in my junior year Coach Dave asked if I would be able to stay after some practices to help the Jr. Hawks club. After I graduated high school I continued to come to practices to help and started coaching at tournaments during that time, that is where I found that passion for coaching and I was hooked. I coached as an assistant under coach Dave for many years and then under coach McLaughlin the last two years. This year I have been given the opportunity to become the head coach and it is something I am very much looking forward to.

Now that you know about more of my background, I want to tell you more about my coaching philosophies and the expectations that I have. I am a big believer in loving what you do and using that passion as a driving force in life. Coaching for me is a passion, I love to teach kids about not only the sport of wrestling but how you can use values from sports in your day to day life. We wrestle in two groups Green and Silver groups. Green group will be for younger kids and novice wrestlers to learn the basics about wrestling and build a passion for the sport. Silver Group will be for experienced wrestlers that will build on the passion they already have for the sport. No matter what group your wrestler is in, they are expected to put in hard work, show sportsmanship to other wrestlers/coaches/officials, and most import to have fun in what they are doing. My goal for every wrestler is to make improvements, that is not something that is measured in wins and losses or skills but in the effort that is shown during practice, tournaments and school.

Welcome to the Lincoln Jr. Hawks Wrestling Club family and I am very much looking forward to the 2018-2019 Lincoln Jr. Hawk Wrestling season and hope you are all as well.

Sincerely,

Brady Harrison

Head Coach Lincoln Jr. Hawks Wrestling Club
